Crosley now at Tigertree!

I was so poor in college.  I think I literally only bought textbooks and Hot Pockets.  There was one purchase that I remember really saving up for and splurging on, though, and that was a Crosley Turntable.  It was the pride of my tiny apartment then and has moved with me several times over the years.
Here it is in my crappy apartment downtown (I don't know why there is a tv in the middle of the room or why I am ironing on a table).
Josh and the Crosley in my crappy apartment on campus.
The Crosley in its current home, on the buffet in the dinning room.

I also have a crosley radio/ipod dock on my desk, but I have only had that for a couple of years, so we don't need to do a pictorial tour of our life together.

The point is that I have had and loved my crosley for many years, and I am thrilled to say that we are able to sell them at Tigertree!

Two styles are available in the shop:
The mini suitcase turntable, which despite its tiny size can play 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM records with dynamic full range stereo speakers
The traveler, a 1950's style wood cabinet radio complete with vintage tweed vinyl and leather handle for portability.  Absolutely adorable vintage look with the amazing sound that you can expect from a company that has been making radios for 100 years!

We are also able to offer several other models on our website (here) including the USB turntable which can convert all your vinyl to cds,  as well as some of Crosley's classic phones!
Poor college me would be so proud.

Baxter of California Now Available at Tigertree

Back in the sixties, real life mad man, Baxter Finley, moved from NYC to Los Angeles to work in advertising.  He soon noticed that the sun and heat of Southern California living was doing a number on his skin.  He searched for a moisturizer that didn't come in a floral bottle or smell like his grandmother, but found that skin care for men simply did not exist.  So he created it.
Baxter of California was born and has been going strong ever since.
We are thrilled to have the line at Tigertree! Some of our favorites:

The Clay Pomade is made from a mix of wax and clay to give hair a good hold, but with a nice, matte finish. Can be used on wet or dry hair.
The Razor Bump Relief is a blend of salicylic acid, along with witch hazel to exfoliate the skin so that the hair shaft pierces through to avoid bumps.
The Dopp Kit is filled with TSA Approved travel ready 2oz. tubes of everything you could need on your travels!  The perfect gift for the traveling man in your life.

We have samples of all of the products in the store, so if you live nearby, come pick some up and try them out at home!  But the truth is, you cannot go wrong with anything from this great line.

J Fold now available at Tigertree

New York's J Fold is the creator of the original sports wallet.  No plastic inserts or bulky compartments here; just sleek, durable top grain leather in slim silhouettes.  Turns out they make a hell of a bag as well.  We are excited to have our first shipment of the brand on the floor at Tigertree this week!
The superslim bifold wallet is made of 100% top grain leather which will wear in and patina over time, rather than wear out.  Available in Green and Black.

The card case is constructed of 100% top grain leather with embossed top and magnet closure.  Available in Black, Yellow, Tan and Red.

The laptop bag and Courier Messenger and Cargo Day Bag  are all made of waxed canvas and vegetable tanned leather.  Each is available in Olive and Slate and Navy.
The train laptop briefcase is perfect for the creative professional who needs to carry everything with him.  Canvas construction with leather accents.

While you were busy worrying about blizzards, we have been finding some amazing new stuff for the store!

Lots of great new items arrived at the store this week.  An overview:
Forget Me Knot rings from Brooklyn's Kiel Mead are here!  Cast from a real string ring, each piece is  a great celebration of remembrance.  They are available in sizes 6-8 in sterling silver, brass and powder coated red brass.

Instant film photography is off the endangered species list thanks to the Fuji Instax 210 wide format instant camera and its easy-to-find instant film. Just like its instant film predecessors, your Instax 210 prints magically develop before your eyes.  No more buying old cameras at thrift stores only to get home, get on ebay, and discover that the film is $10 a frame and you have to pay for shipping from some remote island in the Pacific.  Take that, Polaroid!
I was delighted when I unpacked the new Hand hooks and discovered that they were even creepier than I had imaged.  Each one is cast from the designer, Harry Allen's, unusually large hands.  The Grab hand is a catchall that would be perfect for keys, jewelry, or any small items that.  The Bestow hand has two interchangeable pieces to suit your needs: one is a glass vase, the other a ceramic and metal candlestick holder.
Our first shipment from Richmond-based, Maslo Design arrived this week.  Each piece is a handmade mix of vintage pieces and new findings.
We have also restocked on a couple of great items.

The Orla Kiely travel pieces (the cosmetic case and the cabin upright) are both back in stock.

We also filled in some Toms inventory with full size runs in Black and Olive for men and Ash and Red for women.

We will continue to clear out some older inventory this week with 25% off all outerwear and sale items.  Stop by the check out all the new stuff and get some great deals on winter apparel!

Death and...

There are so many perks to owning a shop.  I don't usually have to get out of bed before 8:00, I get all of my clothes at wholesale, people send us free samples, I get to meet new people every day... and then, to put a big grey cloud over everythig, there are taxes.  This was the scene in our living room last night.

June tried to help things by cuddling with the invoices.

This year we will be more organized.

Support Wonderland and The Columbus Dog Connection through Tigertree and the SBB

Starting today, show your SBB card with any purchase at Tigertree and we will donate a dollar to your choice of Wonderland or the Columbus Dog Connection!  We love both of these organizations and are excited to start giving to them in your name!  If you don't have an SBB card, you can order one (for free) here.

By providing the creative community with the facilities, resources and education needed to become more efficient, productive and economically sustainable, Wonderland's goal is to catalyze the full economic and cultural potential of the creative community.  Learn how to get involved here

The Columbus Dog Connection has been rescuing dogs in need since 1998. They are made up of a network of dog enthusiasts who rescue dogs (and now cats as well!) from abandonment/abuse situations and also those scheduled for euthanasia at control/humane societies.
See a list of adoptable dogs (I have an especially soft spot for Pierre the poodle!) or learn how to get involved!

thanks for all your support in 2010!

I wanted to take a quick second to thank everyone for their amazing support of Tigertree over the past year.  2010 saw the launch of our e-commerce website, our summer Tigertree Cafe, Mods Vs. Rockers events, and that little project called Wonderland.  We were really honored to finish off the year by being voted Best Store from Columbus Underground for the second year in a row.  We have a lot of amazing things lined up for the new year, we look forward to earning the votes to win again next year!
